Context Rob Gale has been doing photography since the early age of 7, and was raised in the Tampa Bay area. His interest in photography started from a collecting old cameras. The people who taught him were mostly people older than him and it lead him to learning about basic photography and lighting. After high school he attended the International Academy Of Design And Technology. He received his degree in professional photography. The field he preferred was weddings, family portraits and lifestyle portraits.
Content This image is a kaleidoscope edit with multiple different colors and styles which has a very unique design with a symmetrical pattern on either side of the image. It is an abstract image with different types of textures. The image is a landscape image but could also be placed in a portrait rotation and still be viewed. In this image there is a lot going on with the trees on all the sides of the image with the America flag right next to it. Also the big design in the middle, I think it could be a garage. The photo isn't realistic because kaleidoscope/ symmetry edits are not realistic. The image has been distorted using photoshop, this changes the look of the image to make it have a completely different effect on the reader. The look of the work is very vibrant and energetic it makes the viewer confused as they don't know where to look next. The sky has a blue ombre effect which makes the image much brighter and have a calming effect almost like the sea. The green of trees and nature naturally relaxes the viewer as nature is pleasing to the eye. The edit can make an everyday landscape look abstract. The image has a lot of intricate shapes such as triangles on the left and right of the image. In the middle of the image there is a diamond shape and inside of it is different patterns and colors.
Composition There is leading lines from the trees all the way to the middle of the image which connect the image together from the outside to the middle. Leading lines help to draw the viewers attention in to a certain part of the image and across to somewhere else in the image. The foreground is the middle of the image where the diamond shape is and the middle ground is the trees which sits on the outside. The sky is the background. I believe the shot has been framed to get the most focused shot possible so after its edited the shot stays clear. The building is cropped and on an angle. The white balance which has been used is around 5400-5500 this will keep the light source in the background but not let it overexpose and take over the whole image. ISO would be 100- 200 , the shutter speed 1/100 and the aperture f/16 and this combination of camera settings would of resulted in a image with the right amount of exposure. The lighting used is the sun as the image has been took outdoors. Rule of thirds has been used to separate the image image into sections and this helps direct the viewers focus to the main focal point of the image. The central focal point is used in the center of the image which looks like a garden, this is the part of the image which demands the most amount of attention from the viewer and naturally draws in their eyes. In the center of the image their is triangles which show the trees and American flag. The image is very balanced on both sides which shows the photographers skills in photoshop and symmetry work.
Connection I like their work because of the use of different angles and lines in the photo which makes this image particularly eye catching. Something which I dislike about the image is the lack of different colors as the only two main colors are blue and green. The strengths of this image would be the different leading lines and patterns, whereas the weaknesses of the image is the background. His work is a kaleidoscope edit with different intricate designs and different colors. Gale's work is similar to mine as I have attempted a similar kaleidoscope edit earlier in the project with painting with light. For a future shoot I could retry the kaleidoscope edit and improve on what I already know with kaleidoscope edits.

He’s a self made photographer which he would do as a hobby which has now has led him to building a career out of it
Wong was influenced by his past career in video game design
Why I Have Chosen Them I have chosen to study Liam Wong for my architecture project because I like the futuristic look of his work and how unrealistic to how our our world is. He seems to show a lot of passion for his work and its very visible because all of his images look well thought out. I also believe he is a very determined photographer as he doesn’t go to far with the futuristic style which makes it look overdone. In conclusion his work is very balanced between the present and the future. Project Title/ shoot number: Portrait - Street Photography
Description of aims for shoot: In this shoot I aim to focus on photographing street photography to showcase different location shots. I will use different models and different styles of portrait, I will also use also experiment with my angles more to get the most out of my surroundings. And also I will attempt to take some shots of the buildings that surround us to create an architecture page.
Salford Quays Casual clothing, hats, scarves, sunglasses, Camera and battery, tripod, reflectors
Camera settings I will use:
F-Stop : White Balance: Shutter speed: ISO:
I will want the focal point to be the object. Furthermore I will try with the background out of focus and in focus. I will experiment with F Stop 4- F Stop 10 I am outdoors so will need to use Daylight, or Cloudy depending on the light that day. I will experiment with white balances to get different lighting effects. Approximately 1/200 to 1/500 of a second is a good speed to aim for in outdoor setting. I can use a quicker shutter speed if i want the background to stand out. I will keep this low to keep the objects sharp and in focus. 100-400 when im outside.
Lower iso in full daylight.
Which compositional rules will I use? I will use rule of thirds to catch the viewers eye. I will experiment with birds eye and worms eye views. Although I may try even symmetry and asymmetry it may be hard to create repetition. I will use mainly central focal point and rule of thirds to convey my understanding of portrait photography.

Preparation For Exam
War Poem In Flanders Fields by John McCrae
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
