Statement Of Intent
For my portfolio, I intend to work in a portrait style of work because there are many options and categories to choose from such as candid or environmental. I intend to to research about different photographers with different portrait styles. We plan to go to Salford Quays to showcase different angles taking advantage of all my surroundings. I aim to find a style of a photographer and work in the style of their photography. For the camera I want to learn how to work in manual style this will help me get the best out of my camera which will reflect in my images. I Intend to use photoshop to improve the overall quality of my image and and also alter the image to give it a different look. Once I have completed this project I will put all my best images in a gallery to showcase my work.
For my starting research I will begin by looking into different photographers work and create a mood board based around their work. This will help me figure out the style of photography I want to work in before I have even started the shoot. The first photographer I aim to look at is Annie Leibovitz and her life to give me a understanding of photographers lives and how they setup their camera settings to get their desired shot. I will be looking at these photographers to gain inspiration from them.
To show progression in my work I will start by taking photos indoors to first learn the camera and its different settings, then I will travel to Salford Quays. At this location I aim to take photos which showcase my models and the surroundings to the best of my ability but also switch up the angles to get the best out of my surroundings I would like to use a wide range of techniques in my work to give me an advantage over other photographers. I will be using a camera on manual and change the iso, shutter speed and the aperture which will ensure I can get the best quality images out of my camera and I am pushing my camera work ability to my limits. Also I will try to switch up my photoshop edits rather then keeping them simple and basic to give my photos a more creative look.
Towards the end of my project, I will be creating an evaluation to show all of my work. I want to aim to change my "Even Better Ifs" all to "Strengths" this will mean any of points of the course I am struggling with will be perfected before the next project. I want my final format to be in a jpeg form.

My Best Shot And My Worst Shot
This is my best image because it captures my model perfectly with good lighting the ISO also kept the image clear and in focus. The red lighting makes the image more interesting then just a plain background. And the model was ready for me to take the photo, the photo has been took using the rule of thirds which draws the viewers eyes to the model.

This is my worst image because the subject is out of focus and has no backdrop. It doesn't capture anything significant as a result of it being out of focus. A strength for this image is that it has used the rule of thirds and stayed on the left. It would be even better if the shutter speed was faster so it could be in focus.
